Collections Folders

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 10, 2009, 12:31 PM
February 2009

I received a response from the devbug group and we will have our collections folders fixed but to fix it we need to break what we have already done.

I told the devgroup that is was ok for them to reset and fix our collections and whatever the results are after the fix I will fix and repair all I can.

So please bear with me as our devs submitted to the collections recently are lost and will need to be resubmitted.

Sorry for the inconvenience but this is the only way to fix the issue with the collections.

CSS Contest--and group info

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 7, 2009, 2:58 PM
February 2009

Hello fellow deviants of Apophysis,

I believe it is time that we start a contest. We have had the same css for quiet some time now and it is time for change seeing how we are now a group and the old css is no longer compatible with our blog journal.

We would like to have a smidgen of fractal in it of course (keep the graphics in the header and footer), and a css template that will be easy to use for all that are writing a blog.  So lets keep it some what simple in that we really don't need headers for sections in that we would then need to remember the code to put the header in.  Now having a bit of CSS for a title tag for a section we want to make prominent would be nice as that is easy for everyone to remember.

So far the prize for the winner will be as follows:

3 month subby for the winner from cmptrwhz
Journal feature from cmptrwhz & pantherwitch4982

Just send a note to the group titled "css contest entry" and give us the code for the header, an example body, and footer.

Contest starts now and ends Midnight 12-05-2009 Central time zone.

************On another note************
It seems after some more research I have determined that we seem to have lost some of our collections and they are not visible even to me :(.  I have emailed the problem to DA and hope for an answer.  I will get this fixed somehow and we will have our resources collections available for viewing once again.

Gallery Submissions

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 3, 2009, 5:37 AM
February 2009

Hello everyone,

Well now that the gallery is open for submissions and everyone is receiving a devwatch notification we need remember that there are thousands of members of the Apophysis group and we need to share the exposure time.

Well it is just that if everyone was to submit an image several times daily then sure they would be exposed to a large audience but others will be left on the side lines.

I have an idea to help prevent the flooding of everyones devwatch with submissions.  Please limit your submissions to to the gallery to 2 times a month as there are thousands of members needing exposure.  This will allow everyone the exposure time they deserve.  I know this sucks.

I have setup the gallery submissions to require 2 votes from the admins so if one admin remembers seeing more than two submissions then I am sorry but it will be denied to the gallery as we need to allow everyone the exposure time thru the devwatch system that they deserve.

The other option that is available is that we still have the collections gallery open for submissions. so if you want to show off some work but have reached your limit for the month just add it to our gallery collection.  :)

Between the two areas you will still get exposure but the collection just won't send out a devwatch.

I feel this is a fair compromise what do you all think?  I just want everyone to have the same fair share of exposure as everyone else and I am not pointing fingers at anyone. So please continue to submit images for your exposure time either thru the gallery if you still have open slots for this month or the collections gallery if you have used them up.

I do wanna hear what you have to say and what you think.

Gallery and DevWatch

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 2, 2009, 6:07 AM
February 2009

Seeing how no one is getting a devwatch from submitting images to the collections gallery I have done research on allowing submissions to the apophysis gallery.

I found that when you(our members and watchers) submit an image to our gallery it is just a link from our gallery to your image just like the collections system which is bonus in that when someone clicks on the image from our gallery or clicks on the devwatch they received it will take them directly to your image in your gallery.  So to put it in the short you the artist will get all the attention as it should be in the first place.

I have opened the gallery for all that devwatch us to be able to submit images to our gallery as you upload your image to DA.  Once again when you are submitting a new image you should have the choice to add your image to our gallery but it will actually remain in your gallery we will just have a link in ours.

Seeing how this will send out a devwatch to everyone I think it would be wise for the admins to approve the images at a slow rate so we don't flood deviants inbox with too many devwatchs all at once.  as we all know if you get too many images to look at all at once you tend to hit the delete button after looking at just the thumb of the image.
